Nataša Veljković (Belgrade, 1968) expressed interest in piano when she was four years old and when she was ten she won awards at international competitions in Italy. After studying in Belgrade with Prof. Arbo Valdma, she studied at the Music University in Vienna, where she graduated with honours in 1987 with Paulo Baudur-Skode. After getting her first diploma she continued her studies at the Julliard School in New York with Prof. Rudolf Firkunsy and later at the Geneva Conservatory with Prof. Harry Datyner.
Dear Sirs,
In the upcoming summer, Youngmasters will once again bring together young lecturers and musicians of international reputation.
Every season introduces a new project. Besides guitar, clarinet nd violin, the cello sounds will resound throughout Samobor at the end of August. At the initiative of our cellist Jelena Šarić, two remarkable Viennese musicians will be our guests. The cello masterclass will be led by professor Tobias Stosiek while the distinctive secrets of piano art will be revealed through the lessons of the brilliant Nataša Veljković. For the first time, one of the best Croatian violin teachers, professor Nenad Merle, will honor us with his presence.

The next novelty is a chamber music for various ensembles that will be held as a separate masterclasses. This also includes the possibility to participate in the project named Chamber music with Petrit and the Samobor String Quartet. It is directed to those young students who are mature enough to recognize this special opportunity of musical advancement.

This year’s novelty is not only the choice of instruments, but also the expert, artistic and educational facilities offered to the participants and their teachers. In addition to the existing methods of teaching, such as individual lessons, chamber and orchestral music, sectional rehearsals, there are also daily group topics interesting and useful to all participants.

Through integrating professional performers amongst those who are at the beginning of their career, Youngmasters offers the oportunity to discover new acoustic and inspiring capabilities. Daily “short form” concerts with prominent musical artists in the festival’s part of youngmasters, will enrich every student’s culture of music and make their sojourn in Samobor completely fullfilled.

Eventually, through the final performances, each student will take part in this festival of music celebration. The fifth season of Youngmasters means a small jubilee. In Samobor – a baroque Croatian town lauded in poetry and favored by the artist for its charming and idyllic setting.

Welcome!

Vesna Faullend Heferer, artistic director
